Privacy policy
Plain version: we collect very little, we don't use advertising trackers or cookies, and we never sell anything about you.
Who we are
TierVerdict (https://tierverdict.com) is an independent, informational website comparing AI coding plans. Contact for anything in this policy: craftsman@signalcafe.org.
What we collect, and why
- Newsletter sign-ups (your email address). If you subscribe, your address goes directly from your browser to our newsletter provider, Buttondown, which stores it and sends the emails. Buttondown sends a confirmation email first (double opt-in), so nobody can subscribe you without your click. We use your address only to send The TierVerdict Weekly. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us and we'll remove you.
- Burn reports. If you submit a report, we store what you entered (tool, plan, model, client, limit window, percent used, minutes, kind of work, date, notes and, only if you fill it in, the optional "handle or contact" field) as a pending entry in Cloudflare Workers KV. A person reviews it. If approved, it is published without the contact field (we remove it on approval). Reports nobody has reviewed are deleted automatically after 90 days. Rejected reports are deleted.
- Spam protection. To limit abuse of the report form, we keep a counter keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address for about one hour, then it expires. We do not store your IP address itself, and we don't link the counter to your report.
- Hosting and security logs. The site runs on Cloudflare (Pages, Workers, DNS and security). Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and requested pages in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and load times without cookies and without building a profile of you. We use these totals to improve the site and, once real, to show audience numbers to sponsors.
What we don't do
- No cookies set by us, no advertising or cross-site tracking, no social media pixels.
- No selling or renting of personal information, ever.
- Outbound links (vendor pages, sponsors, "Paid link"s) take you to other sites with their own privacy policies.
- Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie only if it needs to show you a bot check.
Do Not Track
Because we don't track you across sites and our analytics are cookieless, there's nothing extra for a Do Not Track signal to switch off; the site behaves the same with or without it.
Your choices and rights
Email craftsman@signalcafe.org to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (for example, a pending report or your newsletter subscription). Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional legal rights; we'll honour them. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be mentioned in the newsletter.
